About this package

Kinnaur Kalpa Tour Package from Bangalore is a 6 nights 7 days plan covering Shimla, Sarahan, Sangla, Kalpa and Narkanda. Your stay includes rooms on twin sharing with breakfast and dinner, a private car for transfers and sightseeing, and a day-wise itinerary that you can change to suit your dates, group and budget. You travel to Chandigarh or Delhi and our driver takes it from there; the land package starts at your arrival point. Tickets from Bangalore are not part of the package price, and we can help you choose and book them. The Kinnaur road runs along the Sutlej river and is long and winding, so the plan keeps the drives realistic and the stays unhurried.

Shimla is the old summer capital of British India, and the Kinnaur road starts here and follows the Sutlej valley into the mountains. Sarahan is an old Himalayan village with the Bhimakali temple, built of wood and stone, below the Shrikhand Mahadev range. Sangla lies in the Baspa valley at about 2,680 m, with apple orchards, Kamru Fort and the road on to Chitkul, the last village on the river.

Day 7 Narkanda to Shimla and departure

Breakfast and check-out, then a drive of about 2 hours (roughly 65 km) to Shimla. Drop at your hotel, the bus stand or the railway station, or at Chandigarh (about 4.5 hours from Narkanda) on request. Book onward tickets for the evening or the next day, because mountain roads can be delayed.

Travel tips for Kinnaur

  • Carry warm layers even in summer, because nights at Kalpa and Sangla are cold, plus sunscreen, sunglasses and lip balm for the strong sun
  • Carry a valid photo ID for every traveller, and enough cash, because ATMs in the valley can run out of cash and cards are not accepted everywhere
  • Mobile networks are patchy in Kinnaur, so tell family your plan and download offline maps before you leave
  • Mountain roads wind a lot, so carry motion-sickness tablets and some snacks and water for the long drive days
  • Keep one spare day in your plan, because landslides, snow or a damaged road can delay the journey
  • Foreign nationals should check the current permit rules for Kinnaur and Spiti before travelling
  • Packing light helps, because rooms are small and the drives are long
