About this package

Kinnaur Kalpa Tour Package from Delhi by Flight is a 5 nights 6 days plan covering Shimla, Kalpa and Sangla. Your stay includes rooms on twin sharing with breakfast and dinner, a private car for transfers and sightseeing, and a day-wise itinerary that you can change to suit your dates, group and budget. You fly into Shimla and the land package starts at the airport. Flight tickets are not part of the price. The Kinnaur road runs along the Sutlej river and is long and winding, so the plan keeps the drives realistic and the stays unhurried.

Shimla is the old summer capital of British India, and the Kinnaur road starts here and follows the Sutlej valley into the mountains. Kalpa is a quiet Kinnaur village at about 2,960 m, known for its apple orchards, old temples and views of the Kinner Kailash range, and it is a gentle first step up in altitude. Sangla lies in the Baspa valley at about 2,680 m, with apple orchards, Kamru Fort and the road on to Chitkul, the last village on the river.

Day-wise itinerary

5 nights 6 days: Shimla (1N) + Kalpa (1N) + Sangla (2N) + Shimla (1N). Tap a day to open it.

Day 1 Fly Delhi to Shimla and settle in

Fly from Delhi to Shimla (about 1 hour 15 minutes). Our driver meets you at Shimla airport at Jubbarhatti, about 22 km from the city, and drives you to your hotel. Check in and rest. Evening walk on Mall Road, Scandal Point, The Ridge and Christ Church. Flights to Shimla run only on some days of the week and have been suspended before, so we help you check the schedule; if there is no flight on your day, we plan the pick-up from Chandigarh instead.

Day 2 Shimla to Kalpa via Narkanda

Early start for a long scenic drive of about 8 to 9 hours via Narkanda and Rampur, with tea and meal stops, as the road follows the Sutlej valley into Kinnaur. Reach Kalpa by evening, check in and rest. Evening walk through the village lanes and apple orchards, with views of the Kinner Kailash range when the sky is clear.

Day 3 Kalpa to Sangla via Karcham

Morning in Kalpa and Roghi village if you like, then drive about 2 to 3 hours (roughly 55 km) via Karcham to Sangla in the Baspa valley. Check in and rest. Evening walk by the Baspa river and through the village lanes, with snow peaks around the valley.

Day 4 Chitkul and Rakcham day trip

Drive up the Baspa river through Rakcham to Chitkul (about 28 km, roughly 1.5 hours each way), the last village on the road towards the Tibet border. Time by the river, in the village and at the old Mathi temple, then back to Sangla by evening.

Day 5 Sangla to Shimla via Rampur

Early start for a long drive of about 9 to 10 hours down the Sutlej valley via Karcham, Rampur and Narkanda, with meal stops. Reach Shimla by evening, check in and rest. Evening walk on Mall Road, Scandal Point, The Ridge and Christ Church.

Day 6 Departure by air or road

Breakfast and check-out. Drop at Shimla airport (Jubbarhatti) if you fly out of Shimla, or at Chandigarh airport (about 3.5 to 4 hours) for a flight home. Keep a comfortable buffer, because mountain roads can be delayed.

Travel tips for Kinnaur

  • Carry warm layers even in summer, because nights at Kalpa and Sangla are cold, plus sunscreen, sunglasses and lip balm for the strong sun

  • Foreign nationals should check the current permit rules for Kinnaur and Spiti before travelling
  • Packing light helps, because rooms are small and the drives are long
