About this package

Spiti Valley Tour Packages for Couple is a 5 nights 6 days plan covering Manali and Kaza (Spiti Valley). Your stay includes rooms on twin sharing with breakfast and dinner, a private car for transfers and sightseeing, and a day-wise itinerary that you can change to suit your dates, group and budget. Spiti is a high-altitude cold desert, so the route you can take depends on the season (see the route table below).

Manali is the usual base on the Kullu side, with the Atal Tunnel, Solang Valley and the cafes of Old Manali, and it is the start of the road over the Kunzum Pass. Kaza is the largest town of Spiti and its base, at about 3,800 m, with a small market, cafes and the roads to Key Monastery, Kibber and the high villages of Langza, Hikkim and Komic.

Trip highlights

  • Manali: Solang Valley, Hadimba Temple, Old Manali and the Atal Tunnel
  • Kaza: Key Monastery, Kibber, Langza, Hikkim and Komic, the high villages of Spiti
  • Hotel stay, breakfast, dinner and a private car included

Day-wise itinerary

5 nights 6 days: Manali (1N) + Kaza (Spiti Valley) (3N) + Manali (1N). Tap a day to open it.

Day 1 Arrive in Manali

Pick-up from Manali bus stand or Bhuntar airport and transfer to your hotel. After check-in and rest, evening at Mall Road and the Tibetan market. Take the first evening easy and drink plenty of water, because the coming days climb to much higher altitude.

Day 2 Manali to Kaza via Kunzum Pass

Early start for the high-altitude drive through the Atal Tunnel and over the Kunzum Pass (about 9 to 10 hours, roughly 200 km), with a stop at the Kunzum temple. Overnight in Kaza. Short walk in Kaza town and an early night to adjust to the altitude. Couple tip: step outside after dinner on a clear night, because the sky over Kaza is exceptionally dark and full of stars.

Day 3 Key Monastery, Kibber and Chicham Bridge

Visit Key Monastery (about 4,160 m), one of the largest monasteries in Spiti, then Kibber village (about 4,270 m) and the Chicham suspension bridge over a deep gorge. We keep a gentle pace so you can acclimatise, and you are back in Kaza by evening for tea and the market.

Day 4 Langza, Hikkim and Komic

Drive to Langza (about 4,400 m) for its large Buddha statue and fossil-rich slopes, then Hikkim, whose post office is often called the highest in the world, and Komic, among the highest villages linked by road. Send a postcard from Hikkim, then return to Kaza.

Day 5 Kaza to Manali via Kunzum Pass

Early start for the drive back over the Kunzum Pass and through the Atal Tunnel, about 9 to 10 hours. Reach Manali in the evening, check in and rest. Evening at Mall Road and the Tibetan market.

Day 6 Departure

Breakfast, check-out and drop at Manali bus stand, Bhuntar airport or your Volvo boarding point (drop at Chandigarh or Delhi on request, extra).

Which road is open when

Spiti has two ways in, and only one of them stays open through winter.

RouteUsually openNotes
Shimla, Kinnaur and Kaza (via Kalpa, Nako, Tabo)Most of the yearThe only route that can stay open in winter, though snow and landslides can close stretches for a day or more
Manali, Kunzum Pass and KazaAbout June to OctoberCloses with the first heavy snow, and the dates change every year
ChandratalAbout June to SeptemberNeeds the Kunzum road, and is snowbound in winter

This plan uses the Manali and Kunzum Pass road, so it runs only when that road is open. Outside the season we run the Shimla and Kinnaur route instead. Road dates change every year, so message us your travel dates and we confirm the current status before you book.

Package price and stay options

Prices are indicative, per person, for two adults sharing a room, with stay, breakfast and dinner, and a private car for transfers and sightseeing. Final price depends on travel dates, stay level and group size.

By stay level

Stay levelPer personPer couple (2 adults)

Standard: better hotels and homestays (most popular)₹17,200₹34,400

By group size

Group sizePer person (standard)
2 travellers₹17,200
4 travellers₹16,200
6 travellers₹15,500
10+ travellers₹14,800

Peak season (June to September and long weekends) is usually more expensive, and the quiet months are usually cheaper. Message us your dates on WhatsApp for today's exact price.

Why this couple route skips the long loop

  • The plan goes up from Manali, stays three nights in Kaza and comes back the same way, so there is no long Kinnaur day on the way out.
  • Three nights in Kaza give you time for Key Monastery, the high villages and a relaxed evening, instead of rushing.
  • It needs the Kunzum road, which is usually open from about June to October. In winter we suggest the Shimla and Kinnaur route instead.

Altitude and your health

Heights are approximate. Kaza is the main night stop, and the sights around it are higher still.

PlaceApproximate height
Manaliabout 2,050 m
Kazaabout 3,800 m
Key Monasteryabout 4,160 m
Kibberabout 4,270 m
Langza and Hikkimabout 4,400 m
Komicabout 4,500 m
  • Take the first day slowly, drink plenty of water and avoid alcohol and heavy meals on arrival at height
  • Headache, nausea, unusual breathlessness or poor sleep can be signs of altitude sickness, so tell your driver early and do not climb higher if you feel worse
  • Ask your doctor about altitude medicine before you travel, and check first if you have heart, lung or blood pressure problems
  • Children, elders and anyone unwell should take the slower plan with an extra night

Where you will stay

Stays in Spiti are simpler than in other hill stations, and rooms are limited. Areas are indicative and the exact property is confirmed at booking.

Stay levelWhat to expect
BudgetHomestays and guesthouses with clean, basic rooms; bathrooms and hot water can be simple
Standard (most popular)Better hotels and homestays with attached bathrooms, and a room heater or wood stove when cold
PremiumThe best hotels and resorts available at each stop; still simpler than similar hotels in Shimla or Manali

Usual areas: Manali: Old Manali, Aleo, Mall Road side, Prini; Kaza (Spiti Valley): Kaza town, near the main market.

Best time to travel

  • Manali: Manali is green and pleasant from March to June, snowy from December to February, and best avoided in heavy monsoon (July-August) because of landslide risk.
  • Kaza (Spiti Valley): Kaza is best from June to October, when both the Manali and Shimla roads are usually open. In winter it can be reached only from the Shimla side through Kinnaur, depending on snow, and nights are well below freezing.
SeasonMonthsWhat to expect
SummerJune to SeptemberMain season: both routes usually open, Chandratal reachable and skies clear. The busiest months, so book early.
AutumnOctober to early NovemberClear and colder, with golden valleys. The Kunzum road can close after the first snow.
WinterDecember to MarchShimla and Kinnaur route only. Very cold, with snow, limited stays and a quiet landscape. Sightings of snow leopard are possible around Kibber and Langza but never guaranteed.
SpringApril to MayKinnaur route open and the Manali side usually not yet. Cold, with patches of snow, and quieter.

Spiti itself is a dry rain-shadow valley, but the approach roads, especially in Kinnaur and on the Manali side, can see landslides in July and August.

Travel tips for Spiti Valley

  • Carry warm layers even in summer, because nights at Kaza and Chandratal are close to freezing, plus sunscreen, sunglasses and lip balm for the strong sun
  • Carry a valid photo ID for every traveller, and enough cash, because ATMs in Kaza may be out of order and cards are not accepted everywhere
  • Mobile networks are patchy in Kinnaur and Spiti, so tell family your plan and download offline maps before you leave
  • Mountain roads wind a lot, so carry motion-sickness tablets and some snacks and water for the long drive days
  • Keep one spare day in your plan, because landslides, snow or a damaged road can delay the journey
  • Foreign nationals should check the current permit rules for Kinnaur and Spiti before travelling
  • Packing light helps, because rooms are small and the drive is long

Indicative prices are ₹12,800 per person for budget stays, ₹17,200 for standard stays and ₹26,000 for premium stays, for two adults sharing a room. The final quote depends on your dates, stay level and group size, so message us on WhatsApp for today's price.

What is included in this package?

Stay on twin sharing, daily breakfast and dinner, a private car for transfers and sightseeing, and driver allowance, fuel, toll and parking. Lunch, monastery fees, activities, permits and personal expenses are extra.

How many days are enough for Spiti Valley?

This plan uses 5 nights 6 days. Kaza needs at least two nights to see the main sights without rushing, and a third night adds Dhankar and Pin Valley. Ask us for a shorter or longer version.

What is the best time to visit Spiti Valley?

June to October is the main season, when both the Manali and Shimla roads are usually open. Winter (December to March) is possible only from the Shimla side and depends on snow and road clearance.

What about altitude sickness?

Kaza is at about 3,800 m, and Chandratal and the passes are higher. Take the first day slowly, drink plenty of water, avoid alcohol, and tell your driver at once if you feel unwell. Check with your doctor first if you have heart, lung or blood pressure problems.

Will the itinerary change with road conditions?

Yes. Landslides, snow and weather can close stretches of road, so the order of days can change. We keep to the safest option and tell you in advance.

Can the itinerary or stays be changed?

Yes. Every plan is flexible. Tell us your dates, group size and budget and we will adjust the stays, nights and sightseeing.

Can I visit Spiti in winter?

Yes, from the Shimla side through Kinnaur, but it is cold and snow can delay the road. We suggest a winter plan with a spare day. See our winter Spiti Valley package for details.

Are ATMs and mobile networks available in Spiti?

Kaza has a few ATMs, but they can run out of cash or stop working, so carry enough cash. Mobile networks are patchy in Kinnaur and Spiti, and some operators work only in Kaza.

Is this Spiti package suitable for a couple?

Yes. It is planned for two people travelling together, with a private car, a relaxed schedule and stays chosen for warmth and views. Spiti stays are simpler than in Shimla or Manali, so tell us your budget and what matters most to you and we will pick the best available rooms.
